Important stuff you need to know this stuff before your visit to Woods' Lake

If you bring it with you, Please take it with you.

In addition to fishing, we also exercise and graze our horses on the bank. Doing so cuts down on the amount of mowing we need to do in order to keep the place clean (which also, cuts down on what we have to charge for you to fish). Anything you leave on the bank (like fishing line, hooks, etc) can and probably will be eaten by the horses which can result in a HUGE vet bill.  Or all that stuff can be brought back to our front lawn and deposited there by our heard of dogs Nither of these are considered desireable.  In short,

Thetre are lots of trash cans around the lake and we would appreciate it if you would use them.

Alcohol, Profanity or unruly conduct will NOT be tolerated.

We are not in business of telling anyone how to run their lives. but we are running a FAMILY fishing lake and we certainly don't want yo to worry about sending your children or grandchildren here. Parents depend on us to keep their youngsters safe. Our sole reason for opening Woods' Lake is so that kids can have a nice, safe, clean, place to go fishing.  Would you send your children to a place that allowed unsavory behavior?

Finally:

In addition to a fishing lake and computer shop, we also have horses here. The wire fences around the farm are electrified (hot) and they will shock you! So be warned!   Please keep an especially close eye on the little ones. Don't let them or yourself get too close to the fence.

You also need to know that Mares are very protective of their young. While we all love for you to look at our horses we advise everyone to keep your distance and under no circumstances should you try to pet or feed any of them without talking to us about it first.

Finally, PLEASE REMEMBER:
Children under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

PLEASE don't feed the dogs.

we have three dogs at Woods'lake. All three are friendly and they just LOVE to keep our fishermen company. If you happen to be eating something, they will instantly become your new best friend. They will try and convince you that they have never eaten anything in their entire life! This of course, is totally untrue because we take very good care of them. Like children, it's very hard to get them to eat what's good for them, especially when they are full of sandwiches, crackers and potato chips.  So, please don't feed them.

On this same subject, we would not let a dog who would attack anyone live here. Ours are treated well and are trained not to harm anyone, only to let us know someone is here. We want them to trust people. So, if they do become a pain, please don't chase them away with a stick or a rock.  Any dog will defend himself and the result could be unfortunate. If any of the dogs become an annoyance, you have only to say something to us and we will be happy to put them up so they don't bother you while you are here.

About the Fish you'll catch here.

You will find mostly Bass, Brim, Crappie, Catfish, and Carp in this lake.  In order to keep the lake heqlthy, we ask you to respect the following rules while fishing here.

If you catch a Carp:    They must always be returned to the lake.  Carp aren't any good to eat, and are only in here because they keep the lake clean and some people love to catch a big fish.

If you Catch a Bass:    Assuming it meets the state minimum size you may keep it if you wish, or you may return it to the lake.

Any other fish you catch :    Please do not return it to the lake for any reason because they won't grow.  We're not being mean, we do this to keep the fish population in the lake in balance.  These fish are species that multiply very rapidly and can over populate a lake.

Finally whatever you catch, if you can, find us and let us get a picture of it to post on our web page.
